Chawan: A Shared Spirit exhibition is a unique unveiling of an exquisite collection of tea bowls, where tradition and contemporary artistry converge in a poetic dialogue. Showcasing the craftsmanship, philosophy, and ritual significance of these essential vessels, the exhibition features works by renowned and emerging ceramic artists from Japan and Singapore.

The chawan embodies a unique interpretation of wabi-sabi—the quiet beauty of imperfection and transience—while offering fresh perspectives on form, texture, and meaning. Singaporean artists, who appreciate the beauty of Chawan and Japanese tea culture, have woven local materials and influences into their creations, forging a connection between heritage and place. Through this cross-cultural exchange, the exhibition deepens appreciation for the chawan’s evolving artistry, illuminating the enduring resonance of ceramic traditions across borders.
